Amazing Grace is a moving drama about James Barnes, a young man who is hiding from his past. James was practically raised by a very special lady named Grace, since his own mother was a drunk who cared nothing about her son. During an unplanned stay in his old hometown over the Christmas holidays, Jimmy is forced to face up to old memories and his secret guilt regarding the death of his best friend, Johnny (Grace's only son). Several scenes take us back to his childhood and teenage years during past Christmases as the story unfolds. Finally, we are brought back to the present, as the town sheriff reveals that he knew Jimmy's secret all along, as did Grace. In a very stirring conclusion, Jimmy finally realizes what grace (and Christmas) is all about.
Cornerstone's production of "Amazing Grace" was presented on December 11th and 12th, 2010.
