Fall Quarter Begins 9/14/08

ABFs meet every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. These electives act as the main educational ministry for adults. Our goal is to offer a variety of classes to foster and maintain growth in three crucial relationships: Our relationship with God, Believers, and Unbelievers. To do this, we have a four- track program: Bible track, Theology track, Christian Living track, and Church History track.

TRACK 1: Bible Track.
This track focuses on the exposition of Bible books with some emphasis on practical interpretation. We will attempt to cover each genre of biblical literature during our four year journey: law, history, wisdom/poetry, gospels, epistles and prophecy.

Teacher: Don Bonnell

This fall and winter quarter, Don Bonnell will lead in the study of psaltery as we inspect our lives with the lamp of God's hymn book. Join us in a survey and examination of the Psalms. This class will meet upstairs in the auditorium.

TRACK 2: Theology Track.
The theology track will include topics such as the basics of Christianity, God (His attributes, etc.), Holy Spirit, ethics and philosophy, apologetics, the church, baptist distinctives, and Scriptures.

Track not offered this quarter.

TRACK 3: Christian Living Track.
This track includes studies on evangelism, marriage and family, money management, leadership, worship, prayer, and missions, etc..

Teacher: Chris Hatton

This fall, Chris will be teaching Anxious for Nothing, God's Cure for the Cares of Your Soul by John MacArthur. As Christians, we are certainly not immune to the troubles of life. We aren't promised an easy road, and when troubles do come, we are urged to rise above them and experience "peace that passes understanding." But how, in day-to-day life, does that really happen? While numerous books have been written on overcoming anxiety, Anxious for Nothing moves us beyond pop psychology's temporary cures by returning us to our one true source of comfort and victory, Scripture. Grounded in the Scriptures, author John MacArthur reminds us that God understands our struggles and has equipped us with resources to not only face, but also to truly triumph over our anxieties. This class will meet downstairs next to the curriculum room.

TRACK 4: Church History/Current Events Track.
This track covers topics like Jewish history and culture, Roman history and culture of Bible times, the apostolic fathers, creeds, confessions, the early church, the Reformation, the Great Awakening and American church history, as well as current events.

Bible studies are an important part of spiritual growth at Cornerstone. You're sure to find one where you fit in!

SUNDAY NIGHT SMALL GROUPS &
FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY

Small Groups are essential for believers to get connected and to grow. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and to be challenged in your walk with Christ. The goal of our small group ministry is to provide an environment for spiritual growth, ministry involvement, and outreach. Don Bonnell will be leading this group which focuses on prayer, fellowship, and discussing in greater detail Sunday's morning message; or attend FPU in the sanctuary. Both groups meet every Sunday night at 5:30 PM.

MEN'S MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY
Monday Evening Bible Study begins September 22nd. Paul Gathany and Bob Mengel are coordinating this men's group that meets from 7-8 PM. The desire is to have an atmosphere where men can get to know one another a little better, and have practical discussions about allowing the scripture to impact their daily lives.

LADIES' TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY
Tuesday Mornng Bible Study begins September 9th, from 9:30-11:00 AM. Kay McKinney will be teaching from Marsha Hubler's book Draw Me Closer, Lord: A Women's Guide to a Meaningful Prayer Life. You can draw closer to God through Bible study and prayer. But what is prayer? How does it work? When can you find time for it? Find the answers to these questions and more. Babysitting is provided.

LADIES' THURSDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY
Thursday Evening Bible Study begins September 11th, at 6 PM. Cyndi Messer is leading this group each week. Babysitting is available.
